Purpose of Education

Does my classroom necessarily reflect how I see the purpose of education? 

Not something I can honestly say I have pondered that often. The purpose of education (for me) is to allow or promote the seeking of knowledge and development of skills that will enable students to make the best use of that knowledge. Knowledge for the sake of knowledge seems to me to be a somewhat empty endeavour. In my classroom I like to see students asking questions and challenging assumptions. Trying things themselves and solving problems either alone or through consultation with their peers. I see myself as a guide or facilitator as opposed to a sage or director. Therefore I try to maintain that approach.
