What makes a good Leader?

A good question. 

To me a good leader is someone who is decisive when needed, courageous when challenged and thoughtful in the face of choice. 

A leader must be someone who first understands what it is to be a follower. To be able to engender the respect of those who work under them a leader must know what it feels like to be in that position. They should be able to empathise with those whom they lead in order to make decisions that will be compassionate as well as correct. A leader must be able to listen and consider a range a view points. Because their choices may not always be met with universal acclaim a good leader must also be prepared to stand by their decisions and justify them.
